Total Eclipse Training Solutions Limited is offering places on open training courses to small, local care providers. All sessions will be held at our training suite at Beacontree Court, Gillette Way Reading, RG2 0BS, which has plenty of free parking available.

Foundation Moving and Positioning of People – This predominantly practical course covers the provisions of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 and ensures carers have the essential skills and knowledge to adhere to safe principles and safely move people with the aid of a wide range of equipment. A variety of hoists are used in addition to a range of small pieces of handling equipment.

Refresher Moving and Positioning of People Revision of the legislation impacting on practice, safe principles and practical application using a variety of equipment.

Confirmation of a learner’s prior attendance on either a Foundation or Refresher Moving and Positioning Course will be required. This course is not suitable for learners new to care.

Safe Administration of Medication – This course clarifies the main provisions of the legislation related to the administration of medication. Safe storage, administration, security and disposal of medication are explored in addition to effective recording of administration and reporting of issues concerning medication. A simulated administration provides a competency assessment within the session.

Refresher Safe Administration of Medication – This course revisits the Eight Principles of Safe and Appropriate Handling of Medicines to alleviate complacency which can lead to the occurrence of errors.

Basic Life Support – This training covers the practical and knowledge element of The Care Certificate Standard 12 and includes the Primary Survey, CPR, use of an AED, Recovery Position, and treatment of Choking, Bleeding and Burns.

Epilepsy Awareness including the administration of Buccal Midazolam  – This session equips carers with knowledge of what epilepsy is, and how they can support individuals who are living with the condition. Learners will explore different types of seizures and identify how to provide first aid during and after seizures. Additionally, learners will practise a rescue intervention scenario in the event of the risk of status epilepticus which involves the administration of buccal midazolam. Competence is assessed against the requirements of the Joint Epilepsy Council.

Social distancing requirements have changed for England. While we are still endeavouring to manage risk, group sizes can be increased to a previous maximum of 12 and 10 for Moving and Positioning training. As always, we keep our numbers low in order to afford greater opportunity for learner participation.     .

Course cost includes refreshments, handouts, certificates, and competence assessments for moving and positioning training. Learners are expected to arrive in advance of the start time of the course to enable a prompt start and encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and footwear for practical based training sessions. Learners attending full day courses are encouraged to bring a packed lunch with them.
